"IN THE BEGINNING"(Continued)

OPPOSITIONS OF SCIENCE

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth"-GENESIS 1:1

Another area in which many scientists disagree, not only with the Bible, but also with one another, is the age of the earth.  Have you noticed their discrepancies?  One dinosaur book will say that the earth is several millions of years old, another will say billions.  Why can they not agree?  Because they really do not know.  But God does.  He was the only living being present when He spoke it into existence.  I'm sure that if man had been present, he would try to take partial credit for God's creation.

By His infinite wisdom, God has preserved a ticking clock to mark time for us until Christ returns.  He has preserved it for us so that we may "avoid oppositions of science".  What is this clock?  The Bible of course.  Just as we can glance at our watches and measure hours, the Bible allows us to measure centuries...millenniums.

God created the universe in six literal days.  He could have done it in six milliseconds, but He chose to do it in six days.  God rested on the seventh day, not because He was tired, but because He was finished.  He made man on the sixth day of His creation.  In Genesis chapter 5, God gives us years to mark time by.  He gives us some genealogies.  Have you wondered why they are there?  One reason is to measure time.  By simple arithmetic we know that the great flood occurred approximately 1656 years after creation.  All through the Old Testament, God has preserved some hints along the way for us to measure time.  King David began to reign at 1041 B.C., which was about 3569 years after creation.  Christ made His advent into the world about 4610 years after creation.  This tells us the world is about 6608 years old!  Why does that bother us?  Because it diametrically opposes all that we have been taught by false science, which, in reality, can not agree with itself.  But here are just a couple of scientific facts they are not telling us.

Since 1835, the earth's magnetic field has been measured.  It is shrinking.  the half-life of the earth's magnetic field is 14,000 years.  This means that every 14,000 years, the earth's magnetic field is reduced by 1/2.  In 1970, the earths magnetic field was measured at 0.6gaus.  When Jesus was on earth it was about 1.8 gaus.  At creation, it was approximately 12 gaus.  If the earth was in existence 8,000 years ago, the magnetic field of the earth would have been strong enough to qualify as a magnetic star.  Life can not exist in a magnetic star because our molecules would be pulled apart.  Scientists also know that the moon is moving away from the earth at 4cm/year.  This has been measured for many years now.  If the earth is as old as some scientists say it is, 1.2 billion years ago, the moon would be touching the earth.  Isn't that amazing.

Carbon dating and other methods of dating fossils have proven to be quite inaccurate.  And there is a simple explanation for this.  Prior to the great flood, men and animals lived to be much older that they do now.  Adam lived 930 years.  Those men that lived before the flood lived to be centuries old because the aging process was much different.  The vapor canopy, then around the earth, allowed life to exist longer. Bones developed differently.  The great pressures exerted upon the face of the earth during the great flood affected the decay process of fossils and other deposits.  These, and many other reasons disqualify any method of dating predeluge fossils.  You may be saying, "Preacher,  why is this important to me?"  To keep us on track with God.  To allow us to identify false science.  And most importantly, because God wants us to know that He is not as far away from us as some would like for us to think that He is.  Who will you believe, the scientists instruments or God's word?
